UGA coach to judge chili cookoff
BRASELTON - Former University of Georgia football coach Vince Dooley will sign his newest books at the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce's annual Soup'er Bowl Chili Cook-Off on Saturday. The cookoff will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the pavilion at Chateau Elan. Dooley will sign "My Forty Years at Georgia" and "Vince Dooley: Tales From the 1980 Georgia Bulldogs," which can be purchased at the event. For details regarding the signing, call 770-503-7166. Dooley will also be a judge at the third annual cookoff with 22 cooking teams. Prizes will be awarded at 2 p.m. for Best Tasting Chili, Showmanship and People's Choice. Tickets are 25 cents each. One ticket will buy a 2-ounce taste of chili and four tickets will buy an 8-ounce bowl. Quarts will be sold for $5 at 2 p.m. Valentine's Day messages on-air BETHLEHEM - Listeners can send Valentine's Day messages to their loved ones over the radio on WIMO 1300 AM. Home ec teacher signs cookbook WINDER - A former home economics teacher will autograph her newest cookbook at The Corner Bookstore on Saturday. Yvonne Jett, who taught at Winder-Barrow High School for 28 years, will be at the store between 1 and 2:30 p.m. signing "Treasured Treats: Cookies & Bars." This is her second cookbook.
