LAWRENCEVILLE - A driver crashed his car into a Duluth house on Wednesday and then reportedly fell asleep on the homeowner's bed.
The driver, whose name was not immediately released, lost control while negotiating a bend in the road in front of 3091 Cardinal Lake Drive about 3:30 a.m., said Officer Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department. The car skidded off the road, continuing across a gently sloped lawn and sailing through landscaping shrubbery before crashing through a large picture window, ending up in the garage. The vehicle came to rest upon striking the side of a white Mercedes S320 parked inside. Moloney could not confirm a broadcast report that the driver was drunk and that after crashing he fell asleep in the homeowner's bed. He also had no details about what charges the man may face, although he acknowledged the driver had been arrested and booked into the Gwinnett County Detention Center early Wednesday morning. A gaping hole was visible in front of the two-story brick and wood dwelling from the road, although no one was home on Wednesday afternoon. Shattered glass, bricks and mortar littered the ground where the impact occurred. - The Associated Press contributed to this story.More like this story
