Richard (Rick) P. Ellison Jr, 52, Director of Merchandising for the Nationwide Furniture Company died December 25 of a brain tumor at Peachtree Hospice in Duluth, Georgia. Mr. Ellison, a Washington D.C. area native has made his home in the Atlanta area for the last ten years. His carrier embraced retailing, merchandising and distributing first with BOAT/U.S. in Alexandria, VA. In 1978 he joined a fledgling business furniture company which evolved into Nationwide Furniture Company with 72 retail stores. Rick's special interests included music, cars and his dog. Described as an outgoing, gregarious bon vivant he loved sailing and in his spare time was a passionate harry homeowner. He is survived by his parents Dick and Martha Ellison of Alexandria, VA, a sister Sally L. Ellison of Alexandria and a daughter by a previous marriage, Erin Ellison of Tracy's Landing, MD. His second wife, Janet Moller died in 2000. The memorial service is scheduled for Wednesday January 3 at St. John's Church, Lafayette Square in Washington D.C. at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be offered to Sloan-Kettering Cancer Foundation or Peachtree Christian Hospice in Duluth, GA.
