Mrs. Maria Mainiero Schiveree, age 76, of Buford, passed away on Wednesday, December 27, 2006. Mrs. Schiveree was born on August 13, 1930, and raised in Nutley, New Jersey. She was a homemaker and graduate of Jacksonville University. Mrs. Schiveree was past president of the Buford Woman's Club, a member of the Stonehedge Garden Club, and an active member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Flowery Branch. She served as a Eucharistic Minister and served Christ in the church's Stephen Ministry. Mrs. Schiveree was an avid bridge player, accomplished quilter, golfer, gardener, swimmer, and calligrapher who loved the North Georgia Mountains and the beach. She enjoyed travels to Europe many times with her children and grandchildren and also traveled to Nicaragua to help build homes as part of the Amigos for Christ mission. Mrs. Schiveree is survived by her husband of 56 years, Mr. John J. Schiveree of Buford; sister, Marilyn Mainiero Trayner of Toms River, NJ; brother, Nicholas Mainiero and wife, Carol Mainiero of Nutley, NJ; four children, daughter, Susanne Schiveree Gleaton and husband, Frederick N. Gleaton of Atlanta; son, John E. Schiveree of Lawrenceville; daughter, Julia Schiveree Boren of Roswell; daughter, Jennifer Schiveree Farmer and husband, Thomas K. Farmer, Jr.; and grandchildren, Sarah, Amelia, and Sam Gleaton of Atlanta, John and Emily Boren of Roswell, and Kathryn and Christina Schiveree of Lawrenceville. The Funeral Mass will be held for Mrs. Schiveree on Saturday, December 30, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. The service will be held at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Flowery Branch, with Father Fred Wendel as Celebrant. Interment will follow at Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford. Thomas (Tommy) Alvin Huff, Sr., formerly of Lawrenceville and now of Hawkinsville, GA was born on February 20, 1924, son of Thomas Lenard and Mattie Sure Harris Huff, went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2006. Tommy was the devoted husband of Peggy Jeanne Moorhead for 44 years, who predeceased him in 1995. They were the loving parents of two children: Pamela Jeanne Rosenberg Holcombe and Thomas Alvin "Al" Huff, Jr. In 1997, Tommy married Mary Jean Pace of Hawkinsville and together they have enjoyed living there for the last eight years. A graduate of North Georgia College, he served as a Navy Lieutenant in WWII. He was stationed in the Pacific Theater at the Battle of Leyte Gulf and was one of the first servicemen to enter Japan after the war. Tommy's first career was as a merchant in Lawrenceville on the old courthouse square, and he later served as the Executive Director of the Lawrenceville Housing Authority for the Department of Housing and Urban Development. Tommy was a member of the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceville and then a member of the St. Luke Episcopal Church in Hawkinsville. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jean Huff; daughter, Pamela and grandson, Mitchell Rosenberg; and son, Al Huff and his wife, Patricia "Sissy" and granddaughters, Mollie Ann Huff and Martha Claire Huff; sisters, Ione H. Clark and Mildred H. Breedlove; brothers, James S. Huff and Bryant Huff; nephews and nieces; and a host of dear friends.
