LAWRENCEVILLE - A man who was struck by a vehicle on Ga. 316 Tuesday night died as the result of his injuries, but his identity had not been released as of press time.
The man, who was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center via ambulance, was pronounced dead three minutes after his arrival, said Lt. Philip Byers of the Lawrenceville Police Department. Byers said the incident was not a hit-and-run, and the driver is cooperating with police. Preliminary reports indicated that the man was struck in the roadway halfway between Buford Drive and Collins Hill Road, Byers said. "We don't know the reason for him being in the roadway, whether he was walking in the roadway or trying to cross," Byers said. "We just know he was struck in one of the travel lanes." The driver whose name was not released, had not been charged as of Tuesday night. Byers said he did not foresee the driver being charged, but the incident is still under investigation.More like this story
