Bomb threat evacuates Gwinnett high school April 24, 2014

Store employee, customer charged with scheming to shoplift clothes

•DULUTH - A Grayson woman and Lawrenceville man were arrested Tuesday and charged with shoplifting.

According to a police report, Gwinnett Place Mall Macy's department store employee Alice Saskia Jourdain, 20, of Grayson and store customer Edward Lamont Balkely, 19, of Lawrenceville were arrested after Jourdain rang up $550 worth of clothing for Balkely for $40.

A loss prevention associate for the store told police Jourdain admitted to giving Balkely the large discount and the customer admitted to taking the nearly $500 discount.

Both were transported to the Gwinnett County Detention Center by a responding officer.

Thieves steel pricey lawn equipment

•LILBURN - A landscape company owner told police Monday someone stole more than $30,000 worth of equipment from his Lilburn business.

According to a police report, someone cut two large holes in the fence surrounding the back of the property, taking equipment from open-air landscape trucks parked in the back lot of the building.

Video surveillance was taken from the business, but police said the footage was too dark to identify anyone.

Items were only taken from the trucks, the owner told police the business was not entered at any time during the incident.
