LAWRENCEVILLE - A teen was killed by a hit-and-run motorist Wednesday night while he and another teen were riding a bicycle on Buford Drive near the intersection of Russell Road. The two teens, both 17, were apparently struck by the vehicle around 9:15 p.m., said Gwinnett County police spokesman Cpl. Darren Moloney. One of the teens was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was transported to Gwinnett Medical Center. As of Wednesday night, he was expected to survive his injuries, Moloney said. Moloney was uncertain whether the teens were crossing Buford Drive or simply riding either on the roadway or alongside it. Police know the identities of the teens, but their names were not released Wednesday night. Moloney said the deceased, who was from Lawrenceville, was either Caucasion or Hispanic, but he did not know the race of the surviving teen, who is from Suwanee. Police hope the surviving teen will be able to give them a description of the car that hit the pair. Moloney did not have a description of the vehicle when he spoke to the press Wednesday night, and the incident is still under investigation.
