The teams are the same as this year, but as usual the matchups are juggled for the 2007 Corky Kell Classic.
Brookwood will face Roswell in the annual event at the Georgia Dome on Sept. 1 and Parkview will take on McEachern. The Brookwood-Roswell game is a rematch of this season's second-round playoff game, which the Broncos lost to the eventual co-state champion Hornets after missing three field goals and an extra point.
The other two games feature Camden vs. Warner Robins and Starr's Mill vs. Cherokee, which is the same matchup as this year, but it was necessary because both are Class AAAA teams. The 2007 games mark the second year of a two-year contract signed by the eight participating teams.
"I like the games," said Brookwood athletic director and Corky Kell director Dave Hunter, who released the schedule on Monday. "Warner Robins and Camden played each other in the playoffs and Warner Robins won. Roswell beat us. Parkview and McEachern have played some exciting games in the past. So we're excited about it. It's another good lineup."
Hunter said the times for the two games involving local teams haven't been set. Starr's Mill and Cherokee are in the 11:45 a.m. game and Camden and Warner Robins are set to play at 5:30 p.m. The two matchups involving Gwinnett teams will be at 2:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m., but neither is locked into a time at this point.
Brookwood-Roswell is tentatively set for 2:30 p.m. with Parkview-McEachern at 8:30 p.m., according to Hunter, but they could end up switching spots.
The 2007 event will be the 16th straight year of the early-season football games. All but two of the Corky Kell events have been played at the Georgia Dome.
The 2008 and 2009 games will be decided after the 2007 season, but the participants likely will change to some extent for those years.
Hunter said he's also had preliminary talks with Hoover (Ala.) and Byrnes (S.C.) about the possibility of adding a regional matchup featuring out-of-state teams.
