SUWANEE - The Gwinnett County Board of Education on Thursday approved the appointment of Lauri Burton as the principal of B.B. Harris Elementary School.
Burton will take the place of Principal Nancy Hammond, who is retiring at the end of the month. Burton, who is currently an assistant principal at Kanoheda Elementary School, will start the new job Jan. 2. Burton, who has a doctorate of education from the University of Georgia, has worked at Kanoheda since 2001. She was a fourth-grade and a fifth-grade teacher before becoming an assistant principal in 2003. She also worked for DeKalb County Schools from 1990 to 2000.More like this story
