Edwin Pirkle, age 81 of Buford, GA, died suddenly on Friday, December 8, 2006. Funeral Service will be Monday, December 11, 2006 at 11:00 A.M. at Hamilton Mill Memorial Chapel. Rev. Earl Pirkle and Rev. Paul Wade will officiate. Interment will follow in Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Buford. The Family will receive friends on Sunday, December 10, 2006 from 2-4 and 6-9 P.M. at the funeral home. Mr. Pirkle was preceded in death by his parents, Grover and Bessie Pirkle; Brother, Rev. Estus Pirkle; Sisters, Junie Howard and Florence Bowen. Surviving are wife, Sue Pirkle; Children, Glenn and Susan Pirkle, Paul and Susan Pirkle, Earl and Sherry Pirkle, Dianne Connell, Carol and Doug Goin, Re and Marion Payne and Tommy Pirkle; Grandchildren, Joel and Tami Pirkle, Jennifer and Casey Thompson, James and Amanda Pirkle, Jill Pirkle and Jones Mathis, Mark and Marianna Pirkle, Lynne Pirkle, Hannah Pirkle, Mary-Elizabeth Pirkle, Sara and Bradley Woodruff, Jesse Connell, Rebekah Connell, Nikki and Jeff Wolfson, Robbie and Cherise Goin, Steve Payne, Scott Payne, Susan and Allen Brock. 11 Great-Grandchildren; Brothers and Sisters In-law, Eugene and Drama Pirkle, Otho and Carolyn Pirkle; Sisters, Ethlene Hazelton, Grace Hoyt, Maybelle Cross and Geneva Roberts; Sister In-law, Ann Pirkle; Very Special Brother In-law and Sister In-law, Kenneth and Vesta Parker and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mr. Pirkle was a native of Turner County, Georgia and lived in Jacksonville, FL until 1963 when he moved to Buford. He was retired from General Motors, a member of Central Baptist Church, Gainesville, GA and a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II where he served in the Pacific Theater.
