Rebecca Wood Bishop, 83, formerly of Suwanee, Georgia, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 6, 2006. Rebecca was born the daughter of Dewey and Mary Wood on April 7, 1923. She was reared in the Poplar Springs community of Ware Shoals, South Carolina, along with her siblings: Lewis, George, Ann (Early), Polly (Lineberger), Ellen (Simpson), David and Charles Wood. Rebecca attended Anderson College where she studied to become a nurse and afterward, served her country as an officer and nurse in the U. S. Navy during World War II. She married J. Henry Bishop, also of Ware Shoals, SC. Rebecca was a homemaker and mother of four girls: April, Judy, Robin and Dawn. She is also survived by her sons-in-law: Kent Smith, Craig Samples, Steve Nichols and John Dooly IV, and eight grandchildren: Stella and Samuel Smith; David, Mark, Phillip and Thomas Nichols; Ruth and Rebecca Dooly. The family will receive friends at 1:30 pm, prior to the funeral service, which will be Thursday, December 7, at 2:00 pm, Poplar Springs Baptist Church, Ware Shoals, SC.
