Heart attack caused man to drown

LAWRENCEVILLE - Investigators have determined the cause of death of a man who died Friday.

Robert Miller, 56, of Snellville lost consciousness while swimming laps at Swim Atlanta in Lawrenceville and was transported to the Gwinnett Medical Center were he died.

Chief Forensic Investigator for the Office of the Medical Examiner Ted Bailey said Monday Miller drowned due to a heart attack he experienced while swimming.

Bailey said Miller suffered from coronary artery disease which most likely led to the swimmer's heart attack.

"This could have happened at any time, but the exertion (of swimming) could have exacerbated the problem," said Bailey.
