Sally Ann (Sal) Harper, age 67 of Lawrenceville, GA, died tragically in an automobile accident on November 30, 2006. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Betty Keane. She is survived by beloved husband and best friend of 40 years, Ken Harper; brother, Ronald Van Dyke of AZ; and beloved nieces Tiffany Flournoy and Joanne McDonagh, both of Lawrenceville. Her remains have been cremated and a private family memorial service will be held at a later date. On November 30, 2006 Georgia lost one of its finest ladies; Mary Fleming "Peggy" Kennedy Stuart, passed away at age 92. Peggy was born on April 18, 1914 to Eva Eugenia "Jenny" Hart Kennedy & Dr. F. D. Kennedy in Surrency, Georgia. She spent most of her adult years in Baxley. She was a lover of life, interested & involved in everything. She started a craft & sewing group called The Stitches and was involved for many years with the Baxley Library. Peggy loved nature and was a member of the Garden Club. She and her late husband, R. E. Stuart, enjoyed many camping trips in their Airstream with the Tar Dippers. They were also long-time members of First Baptist Church and participated in the J.O.Y. Group. Besides raising her three children, E.F. Stuart, Marilyn Kemp, & Nancy Hoffmann, Peggy became the first female mail carrier in the state during World War II and also taught third grade at Baxley Elementary School for 25 years. Peggy had a great appreciation for history and was a member of D.A.R., a charter member of the Appling County Historical Society and a champion of local preservation efforts. In her nimble years, Peggy & her husband both participated in the Tar Tappers, a local square dancing group. Peggy's seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren join her surviving sister, Gladys K. Winn, in expressing their appreciation for a woman of character and heart. In addition to her husband & parents, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Lucille K. Webb and her brother, William Kennedy. A grave side service will be held Sunday, December 3rd at 2:00 p.m. at Omega Cemetery. Visitation will be Saturday, December 2nd from 5 to 7 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home. Patricia Ann Waller Chambers, age 80, formerly of East Point, GA, passed away on November 30, 2006. Pat was born at Emory University to Lee and Westelle Waller in 1926. She was a 1947 graduate of the Emory University School of Nursing. While playing her beloved accordion for the USO in a performance at Fort McPherson, GA, she met a young Army Sergeant named Mitchell F. Chambers, whom she married in 1948. For forty years she worked as a registered nurse in the newborn Nursery at Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta. Pat and Mitch were married for 46 years and Mitch preceded her in death in December, 1994. Her greatest loves were music, her family and her friends. She is survived by Nancy Durham of Sugar Hill, John and Gay Chambers of Panama City, FL and Tracy Goodbar of Buford. Pat was also "Memama" to Ben and Alex Durham, Cody and Ben Schmotz, Madison Chambers, Kyle (Brandi) Goodbar, Ty and Kari Goodbar and great-grandmother to Kolton Goodbar. Irene Alma Southard Harrison, age 88 of Lawrenceville, was called home to be with her Lord, Thursday, November 30, 2006. Mrs. Irene Harrison was a Christian, a native of Gwinnett County and a hard working farmer. She was Baptized in 1934 and was a devoted member of Gloster Baptist Church for 72 years. She served her Lord by teaching the young people in Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. Irene Harrison never met a stranger and no one was ever turned away from her door. She always said you could not reach people to know the Lord if you closed the door on them. She was a great mother to her sons and a very special grandmother to her grandchildren. She instilled in her children to be strong Christians and to do right by others. Her father, William "Shelt" Southard and her mother, Della Ann Clark Southard, raised her sisters and brothers in the town of Gloster, Georgia. She met her husband, Curtis Harrison in Gloster and was married on December 25, 1934 in Lawrenceville. They purchased the family farm and raised their family in Lawrenceville. Evan Andrew Wolfe, age 2, died November 24, 2006 from bacterial meningitis. Evan was born on February 1, 2004 and was from the beginning every bit "a little boy." He loved to play, was quick to smile, and was simply a joy to be around. He was full of energy and life, and delighted in his parents, emulating everything he saw them do. His love and joy carried over endlessly to his grandparents, his aunts and uncles, and every friend and playmate. His joy and cleverness never ceased to amaze anyone who knew him.
