DACULA - Nicole Smith and Rachael Duval combined for a five-hit shutout to lead Hebron (5-2) to a 3-0 win over Apalachee on Monday.
Megan Griffin was 2-for-3 at the plate and Kayla Lawson was 1-for-1. SOFTBALL Avondale 15, Meadowcreek 9 AVONDALE ESTATES - Meadowcreek (1-6) lost to Avondale 15-9 on Monday. Brittanie McCain was 1-for-2, Kasey Murray was 2-for-3 and Aaryn Sells was 1-for-2. Buford finishes second at invitational BUFORD - Buford placed second at the Buford Invitational on Saturday. The Wolves were 2-3 on the day and lost to Rockmart in the finals 2-0. Buford (7-3, 1-0) finished the tournament 4-3 and opened the day with a 3-0 win against Jefferson. Buford then lost to Apalachee 3-0 and LaFayette 4-3 to finish pool play. The Wolves came back to beat Apalachee 3-0 in the elimination bracket to advance to the finals before losing to Rockmart. Meaghan Reese was 5-for-13 for the tournament, Jesse Groves was 8-for-21 and was 3-2 on the mound, allowing 19 hits in 32 innings of work. Whitney Holman was 6-for-18 with five runs scored and four stolen bases. FOOTBALL LCA 46, Barrow County Christian 18 LOGANVILLE - Loganville Christian Academy defeated Barrow County Christian 46-18 on Friday.
