SNELLVILLE - A 25-year-old Loganville man was killed Monday when his truck veered into oncoming traffic on Temple Johnson Road, causing a head-on collision.
Jackson Tanner Vaughn was driving east on Temple Johnson Road near Garmon Drive shortly before 10 p.m. when he apparently lost control in a curvy portion of the two-lane road. Vaughn's 2004 Mazda truck crossed into westbound traffic and slammed into a 1998 Dodge Ram, said Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department.
Vaughn was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the Mazda, 35-year-old Ralph Villani of Lawrenceville, was taken to Gwinnett Medical Center with serious injuries.
The driver of the Dodge, Christopher Paul Green, 36, of Loganville, also suffered serious injuries. He was transported to DeKalb Medical Center.
Both men are expected to survive, Moloney said. The speed limit on Temple Johnson Road is 45 mph. Investigators are still trying to determine what caused Vaughn to lose control of the truck.
