Prep roundup: Hackett near perfection in win

HOSCHTON - Katy Hackett was one out away from throwing a perfect game to lead Mill Creek past Brookwood in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Hackett pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit while striking out nine batters.

Bethany Ullrich and Hannah Graham both went 1-for-3 while Danielle Laduron was 1-for-2 for the Hawks, who remained undefeated on the season at 5-0.

SOFTBALL

Parkview 8, Norcross 1

LILBURN - Kelly Croxton improved her record to 3-0 on the year as she led Parkview past Norcross 8-1 on Wednesday in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational.

Croxton pitched six strong innings, allowing only four hits while striking out three and allowing zero earned runs.

Jennifer Warmley was 2-for-3 with four RBIs and Summer Rose went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to lead the Panthers.

Central sweeps doubleheader

DULUTH - Central Gwinnett swept its doubleheader defeating Duluth 14-7 and Riverside 9-1 in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Caitlin Moyer went 4-for-5 with three RBIs and Kim Smith was 4-for-4 with three RBIs while both Stephanie Peet and Allyssa Pane each had three hits apiece for the Black Knights in the first game. Jessica Porter was the game's winning pitcher against Duluth.

Asia Hilliard, Samantha Martin and Kristen Colbrun each had two hits for the

Wildcats.

Ginny Emery was the winning pitcher in the second game of the doubleheader for the Black Knights. Smith continued her strong hitting going 3-for-3 while Moyer was 2-for-3 with four RBIs for Central (5-4).

Peachtree Ridge wins two at Hawk/Bulldog Invitational

SUWANEE - Peachtree Ridge swept its doubleheader Wednesday in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational as it defeated South Forsyth 4-1 and Campbell 15-0.

Emily Osterhaus pitched a complete game, allowing only one hit while striking out eight batters in the victory over South Forsyth.

Osterhaus also went 2-for-2 with a RBI while Callie Fernandez was 2-for-3 with a triple and a RBI.

In the second game of the doubleheader, Rhea Taylor stole a school-record seven bases to lead the Lions past Campbell 15-0.

Taylor was also 2-for-2 with three runs scored while Michelle Wagner went 2-for-2 with four RBIs. Jackie Samuels was the winning pitcher, allowing only one hit while striking out seven batters.

North 9, Berkmar 0

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett bounced back from a tough defeat Tuesday and defeated Berkmar 9-0 in four innings on Wednesday in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational.

Brittany Broome allowed only three hits and struck out nine batters in four innings to improve her record to 2-0.

Mary Beth O'Rouke led the Bulldogs, going 3-for-3 with four RBIs while Emily Althafer went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.

Erica Joseph and Samantha Boeshore both went 1-for-2 for Berkmar.

Roswell 5, Berkmar 0

SUWANEE - Berkmar continued to struggle on the day as it lost the second game of a doubleheader 5-0 against Roswell in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Cat Tarvin led the Patriots going 1-for-2 in the game.

Druid Hills 21, Meadowcreek 11

DECATUR - Despite a strong game from Brittanie McCain, Meadowcreek fell to Druid Hills 21-11 on Wednesday.

McCain was 3-for-5 while both Adrienne Ueu and Carrie McGrew went 2-for-4 for the Mustangs. Aaryn Sells was 1-for-4 with a homer for Meadowcreek.

Duluth 13, Riverwood 0

DULUTH - Duluth rebounded from a 14-7 loss to Central Gwinnett to defeat Riverwood 13-0 in the second game of a doubleheader in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Ivey Knox tossed a no-hitter to lead the Wildcats and improved her record to 2-0 on the season.

Samantha Martin was 2-for-3 while Emily Chavis and Chantelle Curinton each had two hits for the Wildcats.

Union Grove 5, Norcross 1

LILBURN - In the second game of a doubleheader, Norcross fell short to Union Grove 5-1 in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Anisha Dixon went 2-for-2 and Heidi Shape was 2-for-3 for the Blue Devils (0-4).

GAC 5, Jackson Co. 0

HOSCHTON - Chelsea McDavid tossed a no-hitter while striking out five batters to lead Greater Atlanta Christian to a 5-0 victory over Jackson County in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Reagan Paige went 1-for-2 with a double and two RBIs while Carly Busbee went 1-for-1.

Buford 5, West Hall 0

BUFORD - Jesse Groves pitched a complete game striking out three batters while only allowing three hits to lead Buford to a 5-0 shut out over West Hall in the Hawk/Bulldog Invitational on Wednesday.

Rose also went 1-for-3 with two RBIs while both Kelly Tucker and Melissa Higginbotham were 1-for-3 for the Wolves.
