LAWRENCEVILLE - Crews are planning to stop traffic three times this week for blasting on Interstate 85.
Georgia Department of Transportation spokeswoman Teri Pope said, road crews are scheduled to blast about 1 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The work is part of the $150 million project to transform the interchange of I-85 and Ga. Highway 316. "As blasting occurs, traffic will be stopped on the interstate for about 10 minutes," DOT District Engineer Russell McMurry said. "I-85 northbound traffic will be stopped at Steve Reynolds Boulevard, and I-85 southbound traffic will be stopped at State Route 316. Traffic on Old Norcross Road will also be stopped. Off-duty law enforcement officers will stop traffic for the blasting." He said no other work was planned this week that would interfere with traffic.
