My father: The best man I ever knew

I saw the title to this column a while back in another publication. And while I don't normally like to borrow from other writers, this time I don't have a choice. Because the only thing this piece can be called is: "Best man I ever knew."

Mrs. McDaniel was born in Gwinnett County on January 15, 1913. She was a retired cafeteria worker from the Buford School System. She was a member of the New Prospect United Methodist Church. Born in Baldwin County, Mr. Stephens had lived in Hall County for most of his life. He was the son of the late George and Blanche Scroggs Stephens. He was retired from the Gwinnett Co. Board of Education where he worked as a teacher for Parkview Vocational. He is preceded in death by his brother, Hovie Stephens. Survivors include his Brothers and Sisters-in-law: Harrell L. and Eunice Stephens, Joe Stephens, Olen and Joan Stephens, all of Gainesville; Sister-in-law: Ruth Stephens, Gainesville; Special Friend: Peggy Kilgore, Lawrenceville; Daughter: Tracy Kilgore Bishop, Dacula and Granddaughter: Cori Bishop, Dacula.
