Howard Franklin Smith, age 98, of Conyers, died Wednesday, August 9, 2006. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, August 13, 2006, at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m., with Rev. Scott Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Conyers. A native of Rockdale County, Mr. Smith worked for GM for 42 years and was a lifetime member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. Mr. Smith was also a WWII Army Veteran serving as a Buck Sergeant with the 85th Division Infantry, 2nd platoon, 2nd squad, in North Africa and Italy.
