Point guard enrolls at Peachtree Ridge

Point guard Kevin Anderson enrolled at Peachtree Ridge High School on Thursday, giving the Lions' basketball team another key player for the 2006-07 season.

Anderson played previously at Whitefield Academy, where he helped the Wolfpack to a 25-3 record and a Class A state runner-up finish to Southwest Atlanta Christian earlier this year. Now a senior, he moved to Gwinnett and chose the Peachtree Ridge district, where he has a number of friends, including Cameron Heyward, who played two seasons with him at

"We'll see how he fits in," Peachtree Ridge head coach Gerald Arnold said. "I haven't seen him play in a few years, but he's grown since then. He started at Whitefield and had a pretty good season last year. He's a welcome addition to Peachtree Ridge."

The 5-foot-11 guard is listed as a three-star prospect (out of five) by Rivals.com, which also has him ranked as the 23rd best player in Georgia for the Class of 2007. He joins fifth-ranked Zach Graham, No. 16 Heyward and No. 22 Bassey Inameti to give Peachtree Ridge four of Rivals' top-25 Georgia seniors.

Arnold said Anderson is very good friends with Heyward, but also is friends with Graham, Sidney Haynes and Eddie Brown from AAU

Peachtree Ridge advanced to the second round of the Class AAAAA state tournament last season before losing at Wheeler. Arnold lost just one senior and two transfers - all three were reserves - off the 2005-2006 team. He also gets Inameti, a 6-foot-8 force, back after he missed the latter half of last season.

Now the Lions have added Anderson, a solid ballhandler, into the mix. He had several impressive games last season, including a 28-point effort vs. East Hall and a 23-point showing in the state playoffs vs. Jefferson.
