Mary Kerr Brooks, 87, of Atlanta died July 29, 2006. Born August 18, 1918 in New Orleans, Lousiana, she was a resident of Atlanta since 1923. Mrs. Brooks was one of the longest serving volunteers at Saint Joseph's Hospital with 42 years of service and served twice as President of the Auxiliary and also a recipient of the Wings of Mercy award. She was preceded in death by her husband, William M. Brooks, Jr. Survivors include her daughter, Mary Upchurch, of Duluth; son and daughter-in-law, William Michael Brooks, Jr. (Susan), of Atlanta ; grandchildren, Will Brooks, Michael Upchurch, Kellie (Kevin) Guffin, great-grandchildren, Bailey and Hunter Guffin, step-granddaughter, Connie VanSchoiack, step-grandson, John Upchurch ( Diane), step-great-grandchildren, John Upchurch, Jr. and Jessica Upchurch. Gerald Pinthus, age 80 of Lawrenceville, GA died July 30, 2006. He is survived by his wife, Deborah M. Pinthus; daughter, Deborah Pinthus of Los Angeles, CA; sister, Anita Pinthus of Quito, Ecuador. Mr. Pinthus was born in Berlin, Germany, immigrated to the United States in 1944. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. Worked in Electronics/Computers until retiring in 1991.
