LAWRENCEVILLE - One person was killed Friday when a car ran over the median on Ronald Reagan Parkway and struck his vehicle head-on.
Lawrenceville resident Sean Jacob Holloway, 23, was reportedly killed when 21-year-old Lilburn resident Corey Jacobs drove his 2001 Hyundai Sonata over the concrete and grass median and hit the 2004 Chevy Impala Holloway was driving.
The accident occurred about 9:35 p.m. near Bethesda Church Road.
Cpl. Darren Moloney, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Police Department, said a 2003 Toyota Corolla was also involved in the accident, which closed Ronald Reagan Parkway.
Lilburn resident Javier Valdivia, 26, was driving the Corolla when he either collided with the first two vehicles or hit debris from the accident, Moloney said. He was treated and released at the scene.
Jacobs was transported to Grady Hospital by helicopter, where he is in critical condition, Moloney said. His passenger, 18-year-old Lilburn resident Aaron Prewett, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center by helicopter, where he is also critical.
Jacobs was cited at the hospital for driving under the influence, Moloney said, and additional charges are pending. Investigators believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.
Everyone involved in the accident was wearing a seat belt except Jacobs, Moloney said. The investigation is ongoing.
