WINDER - The manager of LaGrange's airport has been offered a job heading Barrow County's.
Glenn Boyd, the manager of the Troup County Airport Authority, was approved by the Barrow County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday to take over as the director of the county airport.
Human Resources Director Norma Jean Brown said Boyd accepted the job pending the results of a physical, background check and drug test. The results should be in by the middle of the week.
Once Boyd accepts the job, the county airport authority will vote on whether to approve him, authority representative Sammy Everett said. Everett said he expects the group to confirm Boyd's appointment.
Boyd is replacing Tim Whitman, who left the Northeast Georgia Regional Airport in February.
Commissioners also voted to demolish and rebuild the county's roads and bridges building for $510,544 and spend $765,000 to resurface Bankhead Highway. A portion of the money will be reimbursed by the state.
They also entered into a contract for H. S. Feldman to operate the Statham wastewater treatment plant for $2,500 a month until Oct. 1, spent $10,190 on a copier and approved a request to spend $114 each on cheerleading uniforms for the Leisure Services Department. The exact number of uniforms needed is not yet known.
