LAWRENCEVILLE - Two houses were struck by lightning Thursday evening during a storm.
Gwinnett County Fire Department spokesman Thomas Rutledge said no one was injured when lightning struck a tree and traveled into at house at 5255 Maltdie Court causing moderate damage to the chimney. Firefighters arrived to the empty Buford home and saw light smoke showing from the back of the house. The second home struck by lightning was at 1649 Mapmaker Drive in Dacula. Rutledge said the homeowner called reporting a possible lightning strike to the attic. When firefighters arrived to the Dacula home light smoke was showing.
