LAWRENCEVILLE - Traffic cameras will actually be the source of traffic Friday.
The Georgia Department of Transportation announced the cameras on Interstate 85 near Pleasant Hill Road, which help officials and commuters monitor traffic, have to come down for the reconstruction of the interchange with Ga. Highway 316. On Friday, crews will close lanes in both directions of the interstate in order to remove the cameras, and on Monday to remove the poles. The schedule is to close the outside northbound lane from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then close the southbound outside lane from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. If weather permits, the removal will continue on Monday. The outside northbound lane will be closed from 8 a.m. to noon; then the outside southbound lane will be closed from noon to 4 p.m. Late night work is also planned for Monday on I-85 southbound from Boggs Road to Pleasant Hill Road. The inside lane will be closed from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. to install a temporary barrier wall along the inside shoulder. Work will shift at 11 p.m., closing the outside lane until 5 a.m. Tuesday for a temporary barrier wall to be installed along the outside shoulder from north of Ga. 316 to Pleasant Hill Road.More like this story
