She taught in both the Ken-Ton School and the Clarkstown School Districts in New York State for over forty years. Dorothy was an active hospital volunteer along with working in volunteer programs in various libraries in her community. She was married for over fifty years to John (Jack) F. O'Connell who predeceased her in 1995. Dorothy is survived by her two sons, John F. and Michael K. O'Connell, both of Snellville, GA; their respective wives, Heather G. and Susan M. O'Connell and their four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A family grave site service was held at White Chapel Memorial Gardens on April 14, 2006.
