Jordan ties all-time mark for goals in one season for Stars

LILBURN - Sarah Jordan's five goals led Providence to a 15-0 rout of Rabun County on Thursday and upped her season total to 43, tying her for first all-time in school history for goals in one year.

Cassi Flowers added a hat trick for the Stars (13-1-2) while Lizzie Hamersly and Jordan Gotfredson each scored twice. Adding single goals were Maggie Ballenger, Julie Jordan and Maggie Brown as Providence logged its 10th shutout.


Parkview 13,Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS - Kalan Hollowell had six assists on Thursday as Parkview routed Meadowcreek 13-0. Laura Fitzgerald, Taylor Jackson and Marah Falle each scored two goals for Parkview (13-3) while Corin Daly finished with two assists and a goal.

Peachtree Ridge 3, Mill Creek 2

SUWANEE - Grace Kwon scored two goals and Christine Watts added one as Peachtree Ridge slipped past Mill Creek 3-2 on Thursday.

Alex Morgado assisted Kwon's second goal while keeper Ashley Crowley saved seven shots for the Lions (10-6-1, 3-5).

GAC 13, Union Co. 1

NORCROSS - Three Greater Atlanta Christian players logged hat tricks on Thursday as the Spartans rolled over Union County 13-1 in the Region 8-AA/A tournament. GAC will host Buford in second-round action at 5 p.m. on Tuesday.

Scoring three goals each for GAC (8-7) were Sarah Brummett, Sammy Abrahart and Sarah Gwyn. Quincy Meyer and Kristin Frederickson each added two goals while Whitney Adams scored one. Gwyn also had five assists while Adams dished three.

Buford 4, Lumpkin Co. 3

BUFORD - Buford got all its offense from Maria Petroni - with four goals - as the Wolves nudged Lumpkin County 4-3 on Thursday in the opening round of the Region 8-AA/A playoffs.

Sarah Eck assisted one of Petroni's goals as Buford (10-6) prepares for a second-round match next Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Greater Atlanta Christian.

Wesleyan 8, Dawson Co. 1

DAWSONVILLE - Paige Pickert had three goals and an assist on Thursday as Wesleyan topped Dawson County 8-1 in the Region 8-AA/A tournament. Wesleyan (11-5) will play at Providence next Tuesday in the second round.

Alex Igleheart scored two goals while Chloe Kelly, Kelly Hall and Molly Hawkins each scored one. Kelly and Katie O'Brien each had two assists while Sarah Beth Cowart and Mamie McIntosh each had one.


Parkview 2, Meadowcreek 0

NORCROSS - Keeper Josh Veal saved nine shots on Thursday to help Parkview blank Meadowcreek 2-0.

Kofi Gyawu scored once and assisted the other goal to Jordan Bennett. Parkview improved to 9-6-1.

Grayson 3, Berkmar 1

LILBURN - Andrew Odoh had a goal and an assist on Thursday in helping Grayson to a 3-1 win over Berkmar.

Mark Thiel and Sean Diffley each added a goal for Grayson (11-4-1, 3-2) while keeper Eric Ati saved seven shots.

Buford 2, Lumpkin Co. 1

BUFORD - Misael Martinez assisted two goals to his brother Abel on Thursday as Buford nipped Lumpkin County 2-1 in the first round of the Region 8-AA/A tournament.

Wilfrido Chavez saved 11 shots at keeper as Buford improved to 11-5.

Providence 3, Dawson Co. 0

DAWSONVILLE - Providence scored three goals in the second half as the Stars posted a 3-0 win over Dawson County in the first round of the Region 8-AA/A tournament on Thursday.

Jonathan Hull scored twice for the Stars (11-5) while Nathan Brannen added the third goal.

GAC 4, Union Co. 2

NORCROSS - Greater Atlanta Christian topped Union County 4-2 on Thursday in the first round of the Region 8-AA/A tournament.

All four goals were scored by Chris Thomas while Chris Fletcher turned in a solid game at center midfielder.


Providence sets three baseball locations

Providence Christian has set the locations of three home games that couldn't be played on the Stars' home field because of damage from last weekend's storms.

Providence plays at Wesleyan on Monday at 5:30 p.m. in a game that was to be played in Lilburn. The Stars also scheduled two 5:30 p.m. home games at Berkmar - East Hall on April 25 and Rabun County on May 3.

Dacula 9, Peachtree Ridge 4

DACULA - Jonathan McBryar allowed one earned run over five innings with five strikeouts as Dacula knocked off Peachtree Ridge on Wednesday in Dacula's Region 7-AAAAA opener.

David Martin logged his third save of the year while McBryar's record moved to 5-1. Tony Baker hit a grand slam in the third inning for his fourth homer of the year while Blair Frost homered and drove in three. Jake Rowe also went 2-for-3 with an RBI for Dacula (13-4, 1-0).

Providence 18, Banks Co. 0

HOMER - Providence blasted Banks County 18-0 on Thursday in three innings. Spencer Maddox (1-0) recorded his first win with three innings of one-hit ball with three strikeouts.

Jon Walker doubled and homered in three at-bats an drove in three while Hunter Bagwell was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Maddox added a 2-for-2 day with a run and RBI for the Stars (12-6, 8-3).

GAC 15, East Hall 0

NORCROSS - John Wood doubled and homered and drove in four runs as Greater Atlanta Christian blasted East Hall 15-0 in four innings on Thursday. GAC improved to 11-6 overall and 7-4 in Region 8-AA.

Patrick Savage also had four RBIs on three hits while Lee Chapple was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Brent Burrows pitched four innings for the win, striking out five with two hits allowed.

Commerce 9, Hebron 1

DACULA - Commerce scored seven unearned runs as the Tigers defeated Hebron 9-1 on Thursday.

Bobby Cole went seven innings for Hebron (1-12-1) in taking the loss, allowing just three hits and two earned runs with four strikeouts. He was also 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI while Jesse Myrick finished 2-for-3.


Mill Creek 3, North 1

HOSHCTON - Mill Creek advanced to the second round of the Region 7-AAAAA tournament with a 3-1 win over North Gwinnett on Thursday. Mill Creek will face Northview next Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Hudlow Tennis Center.

Jake Chastain took the No. 1 singles match for Mill Creek while the No. 3 singles match went to Blake Mottesheard. Jordan Arenas and Anthony Agee added a No. 1 doubles win for the Hawks.

Collins Hill 3, Dacula 0

SUWANEE - Collins Hill opened the Region 7-AAAAA tournament with a 3-0 sweep over Dacula on Thursday at Collins Hill. The Eagles advance to second-round action next Wednesday at Hudlow Tennis Center.

Chris Leonardo and Peter Min each won in singles play for Collins Hill (9-7) while the doubles team of John Boren and Andrew Tyrrel clinched the match with a No. 1 doubles win.

Apalachee's Trippy wins 8-AAA singles title

HARTWELL - Matt Trippy of Apalachee defeated Chris Booth of Elbert County 6-2, 6-1 on Thursday to capture the Region 8-AAA singles championship at Hart County. Trippy's record improved to 13-2.

Apalachee will open the region team tournament next Wednesday at Oconee County against Winder-Barrow at 2 p.m.


North 3, Dacula 0

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett opened its Region 7-AAAAA tournament with a 3-0 sweep over Dacula on Thursday. The win sends North (9-9) to a second-round matchup against Northview at 9 a.m. on Monday at Hudlow Tennis Center.

Winners for North were Katie Hardaway and Caroline Wyke at No. 1 doubles, Tori Mililli and Caroline Bogue at No. 2 doubles and Brook Koch at No. 2 singles.

Hebron 5, Social Circle 0

DACULA - Hebron qualified for the Region 8-A team tournament for the first time in school history with a 5-0 sweep of Social Circle on Thursday. Hebron (8-3, 7-2) will begin its tournament play next Tuesday at Lakeview Academy.

Sarah Hedrick, Kara MaFarland and Shannan Finke each logged singles wins for Hebron. Doubles winners were the team of Julia Salsman and Lindsay McLear and the pair of LeeAnna Ward and Rachel Kindelberger.


Three Lions break par as Peachtree Ridge tops North

HOSCHTON - Three Peachtree Ridge golfers broke par at Reunion on Thursday as the Lions beat North Gwinnett 138 to 158. Patrick Lovely and Peter Yoo were each three under with a 33 while Seth Reeves was one under with 35. Ben Greene finished one over for the Lions with a 37.

North was led by a 36 from Daniel Lee and a 38 from Chris Mueller.

Britt fires 32 in South win over Central

LOGANVILLE - Jeremy Britt of South Gwinnett was low medalist with a 32 and Tyler Cashbaugh followed with a 33 as South Gwinnett cruised past Central Gwinnett 141 to 192 on Thursday at Providence Club.

South also received a 35 from Stephen Hamilton and a 41 from Wesley Stephens. Central was led by a 42 from Stephen Almond.

Seay and Kanner shoot 39's in Brookwood win

SNELLVILLE - Kevin Seay and Russ Kanner each carded a 39 on Thursday as Brookwood upended Grayson 163 to 170 at Summit Chase.

Cameron Smith and Josh Sullins each shot 40 for Grayson.


Peachtree Ridge defeat North

HOSCHTON - Sandy McAfee shot a 53 and Kristen Mitchell added a 55 on Thursday at Reunion as Peachtree Ridge beat North Gwinnett 108 to 118.

North was led by Christina Lee's 58.

Brookwood downs Grayson

SNELLVILLE - Mary Beth Wys carded a 46 at Summit Chase on Thursday as Brookwood (9-6) defeated Grayson 99 to 115. Cyndi Carter led Grayson with a 55.


Trapp leads Central over Loganville

LAWRENCEVILLE - Whitney Trapp took first place in both the 100 and 200 on Thursday to help push Central Gwinnett 68-59 over Loganville.


Simms, Terrell help Central beat Loganville

LAWRENCEVILLE - Michael Simms won three events and Chris Terrell won two as Central Gwinnett downed Loganville 86-45 on Thursday.

Simms took first in the long jump, 110 hurdles and the 300 hurdles while Terrell won the triple jump and the 100 meter.


GGC 10, People's Baptist 9

MCDONOUGH - Sara Veamoi was 2-for-2 with a double, home run and five RBIs on Thursday to lead Greater Gwinnett Christian 10-9 over People's Baptist.

Kasey Kross added an RBI for GGC (6-2) while Taylor Augst reached base four times and scored twice. Rebecca Butler started and went four innings, allowing one earned run with two strikeouts for the win.
