Drive-by shooters fire at house
•NORCROSS - Police are investigating a drive-by shooting that occurred Monday at a house on Gulf Terrace in Norcross.
A neighbor heard a series of gunshots and looked out the window to see someone driving an older model Toyota Camry or Nissan down the street about 12:30 a.m., according to a police report. The driver then turned around in the cul-de-sac and came back.
A passenger in the car hung out the window and yelled something in Spanish as he fired two more rounds at the house. Residents told police they didn't know who would want to shoot at their house. They had only lived there for a few weeks, the police report said.
Man charged with DUI, no license
•DULUTH - A 35-year-old Norcross man was arrested Monday after he allegedly drove drunk and ran off the road at Interstate 85 South, blowing out two tires on his vehicle.
Another motorist who was following behind Silverio Garcia-Hernandez noticed him driving erratically. The motorist allegedly witnessed Hernandez' vehicle run off the road on several occasions and eventually come to a stop after the tires were damaged.
The motorist walked up and put Hernandez's car in park to prevent it from rolling. He also observed that Hernandez was highly intoxicated and called 911, according to a police report.
An officer who responded observed a half empty 12-pack of beer on the floorboard of the vehicle. Hernandez was charged with DUI and operating a vehicle without a license.
