Blast accident causes sewer spill

LAWRENCEVILLE - A blasting accident Monday damaged county sewer lines, causing a 7,500-gallon sewer spill in northeast Gwinnett.

The blasting was being done by developers building subdivisions in the area of Mount Moriah Road near the Barrow County line, said county Public Utilities Director Frank Stephens.

The blasting company that was hired, P.F. Moon, will have to reimburse the county about $10,000 for the damages, Stephens said.

The ruptured sewer line was at 3852 Hog Mountain Road, near Jim Moore Road. Little Mulberry Creek was affected, Stephens said.
