LAWRENCEVILLE - FBI agents in Charlotte, N.C., have arrested a 55-year-old Lawrenceville man suspected of impregnating his teenage daughter and sexually assaulting his stepdaughter.
Early Arnold Connelly was arrested at a Charlotte-area residence Wednesday, a week after a federal judge issued a warrant for Connelly charging him with unauthorized flight to avoid prosecution. Connelly is being held in a North Carolina jail awaiting extradition to Georgia, according to a FBI Charlotte press release. Connelly faces charges of rape and incest in Gwinnett County, where he allegedly raped his 16-year-old daughter and got her pregnant. Authorities said the victim's mother brought her to a metro Atlanta hospital because the girl wasn't feeling well. When a pregnancy test came back positive, the girl allegedly said she had been sexually assaulted by Connelly. Connelly is also accused of sexually assaulting his 19-year-old stepdaughter, who is physically and mentally disabled. She is not pregnant. Investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Department's Special Victims Unit believe the sexual abuse occurred over several years, ending in January when the girls' mother and Connelly separated. The Gwinnett Daily Post has a policy against identifying victims of sexual assault. Neither of the victims share Connelly's last name. - Staff writer Rubina Madan contributed to this article.More like this story
