LAWRENCEVILLE - Georgia Gwinnett College is now accepting applications for its first class of students, who will enroll in August.
The brand new four-year college put its electronic application up on Thursday and has already started receiving applications. The school will initially only enroll junior transfer students. It will start accepting freshmen next year. In its pilot year, the school will only be accepting 250 to 300 applicants. Eddie Beauchamp, vice president of business and finance, said most of the applicants will be current students at Georgia Perimeter College's Lawrenceville campus. Students will be able to apply through the Web site for GA College 411, a state-run organization that helps students plan, apply and pay for their college educations. "It is a standard application that is being used by all colleges," Beauchamp said. "If we need additional information to accept a person, we'll accept that electronically. Students will only be able to apply for the college's biology, psychology and business administration programs. The deadline for fall admission is July 31.
