Security guard shot to death in Savannah
SAVANNAH - A security guard working an area where houses were under construction was shot to death early Thursday, police said. The guard, identified as Jerome Edwards, 54, was shot about 3:20 a.m., Savannah-Chatham County Police said. His body was found lying between two houses. Fort Benning soldier killed in Iraq ATLANTA - A Fort Benning soldier was killed Tuesday when a sniper shot him while he was on patrol in Iraq, family members said. Staff Sgt. Jason Benford, 30, of Fort Benning's 2nd Battalion, 69th Infantry Regiment, was killed in Ramadi, Iraq, said his wife, Kimberly Benford. Benford said she was notified by military officials on Tuesday.
