DULUTH - Four houses were evacuated in the Duluth area Thursday after a construction crew struck a four-inch gas line and caused a leak.
Firefighters responded to the leak at the intersection of Medlock Bridge Road and Bush Road at 8:06 p.m., said Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department. No injuries were reported, but four homes were evacuated. Medlock Bridge Road was closed between South Old Peachtree Road and Peachtree Industrial Boulevard until the leak was repaired. Firefighters monitored the gas levels in the area to ensure conditions were safe to reopen the roads and allow residents to return home at 11:45 a.m., Rutledge said.More like this story
