DAWSONVILLE - Wesleyan beat fifth-ranked Dawson County on Wednesday as Missy Genthert turned in a standout performance, allowing just one run in a 3-1 victory for the Wolves.
Amy Spingola and Whitney Warren had two hits each as Wesleyan improved to 3-2 in Region 8-AA and 11-7-1 overall. Genthert improved to 7-3 with the win.
Buford 11, Providence 1
BUFORD - Kelly Tucker was 2-for-2 with a double and three RBIs as Buford beat visiting Providence 11-1 on Wednesday in Region 8-AA action.
Melissa Higgonbotham (8-0) pitched a complete game, striking out four while allowing three hits and no earned runs. She was also 1-for-2 with an RBI and three runs scored as the top-ranked Wolves improved to 18-1 and 6-0 in the region.
Nichole Bell also played well for Buford, going 1-for-3 with two RBIs.
Berkmar 6, Norcross 5
NORCROSS - Berkmar beat host Norcross in nine innings on Wednesday night, winning the game 6-5 behind a strong effort from Katherine Tarvin.
Tarvin picked up the win for the Patriots (10-9) and also hit a two-run homer. Brittany Boeshore also had a standout game, going 4-for-5. Carrie Smith, Erica Joseph and Nikki Threat, had two hits each.
For Norcross, Nina Iduate was 3-for-3 and Holly Bostick was 2-for-4. Jaime Silvester struck out 11 for the Blue Devils, who are 6-16.
