STONE MOUNTAIN - A fire at a Hardee's restaurant Monday caused minor damage to the building and sent two employees to the hospital with injuries.
Firefighters who were dispatched at 1:57 p.m. to 5259 Stone Mountain Highway arrived to find heavy smoke showing from the roof. A fire that began in the women's restroom extended to the roof, forcing firefighters to begin opening up a wall to attack the blaze.
The bulk of the fire was extinguished by 2:11 p.m., said Tommy Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department. There was moderate damage to an exterior wall, and a man and woman employee were transported to Eastside Medical Center for evaluation.
