Man robs SunTrust bank
SUGAR HILL - An unidentified white male on Friday robbed the SunTrust bank inside Publix at 5885 Cumming Highway.
The suspect approached the teller and handed her a note telling her to "hand over the money and no one will get hurt," according to a police report. The teller placed an exploding dye pack in with the money.
The suspect took the cash and his demand note and fled the bank. He is described as a white man with brown hair, between 5 feet 8 and 5 feet 10 inches tall and approximately 180 pounds. The man was wearing sunglasses, a dark-colored polo shirt and a baseball bat.
Man burned in car fire
SNELLVILLE - A Snellville man was severely burned Friday when a parked car he was sitting in caught fire.
Raymond Woodrow Bramlett, 55, was inside a 1993 Dodge Shadow in the backyard of his home when it ignited. His 21-year-old daughter was awakened by two "booms" and went outside with her aunt to find the car engulfed in flames, according to police reports. The two women dragged Bramlett out of the car, but he sustained second- and third-degree burns to his face, neck and upper torso.
Bramlett was hospitalized at the Grady Memorial Hospital burn unit in Atlanta.
The incident was ruled accidental. Authorities were not sure whether Bramlett was conscious when the car caught fire, police reports stated.
Armed robber strikes Arby's
STONE MOUNTAIN - An unidentified man on Thursday robbed the Arby's restaurant at 5245 Stone Mountain Highway.
The suspect leapt over the fast-food counter about 10:40 p.m. and aimed a gun at an employee, saying "Don't move." The robber grabbed the employee by the shirt and forced him into a walk-in cooler, according to police reports. He struck the employee on the head and closed the door behind him.
The thief then ordered a female employee to open up the restaurant safe. He told her to remain lying on the floor as he fled. The suspect was described as a tall, thin and light-skinned black man wearing a dark-colored T-shirt and a baseball cap with a dark bandanna underneath it, police reports stated.
Man shot in back while riding in car
BUFORD - An 18-year-old Lawrenceville man was shot in the back Friday while riding in a car on Buford Drive and Laurel Drive with two of his friends.
The victim was sitting in the back of a white van at 5:44 p.m. when a green or black Volvo pulled up next to them, police reports stated. An argument broke out between occupants of both vehicles, and shots were fired into the rear of the van.
Then teen was shot in the back, according to police reports. His friends dropped him off at Gwinnett Medical Center, told medical personnel he had been shot and drove away without waiting to make a statement for police.
