Man robs Waffle House
LILBURN - An unidentified man on Wednesday robbed the Waffle House at 4138 Stone Mountain Highway. The cook and a cashier were on a break sitting outside the restaurant about 5 a.m. when the suspect approached and told them to go back inside. When they refused, the robber flashed a pistol from his pocket and shouted "I'm serious!" according to police reports. The suspect forced the employees to go inside and open up the register. He fled with an undisclosed amount of money in a gold Chevy Malibu. The suspect is described as a black male, 5 feet 5 inches tall and 120 pounds. Day care worker assaulted LAWRENCEVILLE - A director of Amazing Kids Academy at 2740 Five Forks Trickum Road was assaulted Tuesday by a former employee. Latoya McDowell, 21, allegedly came into the day care at 4 p.m. demanding her last pay check. The director told her the check would be mailed to her residence, according to police reports. McDowell became upset and refused to leave. She allegedly grabbed the director by the hair to prevent her from calling 911, then cut her on the hand with an unidentified sharp object. McDowell left before police could arrive. She is charged with aggravated assault, criminal trespass and obstructing 911. Man's arm broken in gas dispute LAWRENCEVILLE - A Lawrenceville man's arm was broken Wednesday during a dispute over gas at the Marathon gas station on Azalea Drive and Camp Perrin Road. The victim was trying to prevent 43-year-old David Lee Hartig from cutting in front of a line of approximately 25 cars that were waiting to fuel up, according to police reports. The victim told police he was just "trying to stick up for the little guy." Hartig pretended not to hear the man and then bumped against him three times with his car, according to the report. When Hartig got out of the car, a wrestling match ensued between the pair and the victim fell to the ground, breaking his arm.
