Bank robbed

NORCROSS - Someone robbed the Georgia Telco Credit Union at 6135 Peachtree Parkway on Tuesday.

An unidentified black man, about 5 foot 10 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds, approached a teller about 10 a.m. and handed her a plastic Wal-Mart bag with a note. The note said, "Put the money in the bag," which the teller did, according to police reports.

The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money.

Woman scares would-be burglars

LAWRENCEVILLE - A 23-year-old Lawrenceville woman scared away a pair

of would-be burglars at a home Tuesday on Ashland Parkway.

The woman and her 7-month-old son were home about 11 a.m. when she heard breaking glass in the basement. She went to investigate, looked out an upstairs window and saw two Hispanic men walking into the woods behind the house, reports said.

Police later discovered a rock had been used to smash a basement window, but nothing was taken.

Cabinet shop catches fire

BUFORD - A fire at Riverside Cabinet Co. on Thursday caused moderate damage to a workshop area, however, no employees were injured.

Firefighters were called to 4580 Commerce Parkway at 12:45 p.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke issuing from a 50-by-100 foot metal building with a brick front. The fire was held in check by a sprinkler system, and firefighters were able to bring the blaze under control by 1:02 p.m. Employees escaped without injury, said Thomas Rutledge, spokesman for the Gwinnett County Fire Department.

The cause of the fire was listed as accidental.
