Monster Mash Bash comes to the Aurora

If you're in the mood for a different way to celebrate Halloween, check out the Aurora Theatre's Monster Mash Bash Halloween Cabaret this weekend. The concert will feature the best of Broadway's dark side, such as songs from "Phantom of the Opera" and "The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

Sample Atlanta theater

If you have been thinking about exploring the theaters of Atlanta, it's time to invest in a Take 5 Sample pass. This pass allows admission to five shows, each performed at a different area theater. The Take 5 pass costs $50.

The Aurora Theatre in Duluth is one of the 10 theaters participating in the Take 5 pass program. Additional theaters include 7 Stages in Little Five Points, Actor's Express at the King Plow Arts Center in Atlanta, Dad's Garage in Inman Park, the Georgia Ensemble Theatre in Roswell and Georgia Shakespeare, which performs on the campus of Oglethorpe University in Atlanta. Theatre in the Square in Marietta and Horizon Theatre in Little Five Points will also be participating. The Synchronicity Performance Group, which usually performs in Little Five Points, and True Colors Theatre, which performs around Atlanta, are also part of the Take 5 program.

The Take 5 Sample Pass costs $50 and is good for a year. Each pass allows admission to five participating theaters, though reservations are required. 'Cats' returns to the Fox

In January, "Cats" will dance back into the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The Andrew Lloyd Webber musical will be performed Jan. 17 through Jan. 22.

The show, which was first performed on May 11, 1981, in London, will celebrate its 25th anniversary in 2006. "Cats" opened in New York City in 1982. It won seven Tony Awards, including best musical and best costumes. The show's 18-year run on Broadway ended Sept. 10, 2000.

In Atlanta, performances of "Cats" will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, at 2:30 and 8 p.m. Saturday and at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sunday. The Fox Theatre is located at 660 Peachtree St.
