LAWRENCEVILLE- A construction crew digging sewer lines struck a two-inch gas line Thursday, closing West Pike Street between Langley Drive and Honeysuckle Circle for more than an hour.
The crew, working at 350 West Pike St., struck the gas line at 7:44 p.m., said Thomas Rutledge, Gwinnett Fire Department spokesman. Firefighters monitored gas readings as Lawrenceville Gas worked to stop the leak. The leak was stopped and the road was reopened at 8:51 p.m. No evacuations were necessary, Rutledge said.More like this story
