LAWRENCEVILLE - A preliminary hearing for a 22-year-old Lawrenceville man accused of stealing a $7 million charter jet has been rescheduled for Wednesday in Gwinnett County Magistrate Court.
Daniel Andrew Wolcott is charged with theft by receiving and five counts of reckless conduct for allegedly stealing the plane from the St. Augustine/St. Johns County Airport. He is also charged with grand theft in Florida. Police believe Wolcott flew into the Gwinnett airport during the predawn hours of Sunday morning while the air traffic control tower was closed. Wolcott landed the Cessna Citation VII at Briscoe Field and then took five of his friends for a brief "joy ride" to the Winder-Barrow airport, authorities said. Wolcott reportedly flew the jet with his friends on board even though he knew it was low on fuel. He possessed a commercial pilot's license, but he was not trained to fly a 10-passenger jet of that type.More like this story
