STATHAM - A man whose ex-wife allegedly ran over him with her truck last week is listed in good condition at the Atlanta Medical Center.
Kenneth Baker, 49, was identified by police Wednesday as the man who 43-year-old Anna Marie Scott allegedly struck with her white 1993 Ford F-150 Oct. 13.
According to the initial incident report, Scott ran into the city's Subway, hysterically yelling for an employee to call 911 because she could not find the police.
An off-duty officer who was in the Subway at the time spoke to Scott, who said she thought she had just run over her husband, the report said. The officer went to the scene, and told Scott to stay at the Subway until he returned, according to the report.
When the officer arrived at 1860 Dooleytown Road, the report said, he found Baker lying in the driveway with blood coming from his head. The officer requested that Barrow County sheriff's deputies make contact with Scott at the Subway, but Scott had left by the time deputies arrived.
Baker was airlifted to the hospital following the incident at 8 p.m., where he was initially listed in stable condition.
Police contacted Scott's relatives, according to the report, who said she would likely have gone to her mother's house in Oconee County. Oconee County authorities apprehended Scott at 10:46 p.m., the report said, and transported her to the county line.
Scott's truck was placed in an investigative hold. In speaking to police after her arrest, Scott said she and Baker had been in Athens when Baker had gotten into an argument with her ex-boyfriend, resulting in Baker receiving a split lip.
When they arrived home, Scott told police, she and Baker began to argue. He reportedly told her to leave, and she told police that when she started to go, she felt a thump and found Baker lying on the ground.
Statham Police Officer Thomas Hinson, the department's spokesman, said Scott was charged with serious injury by vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and driving under the influence. He said police have received conflicting stories from Scott and Baker, and that Scott's charges may be more serious depending on other information.
Hinson said the two are divorced, but were living at the same address. The investigation is ongoing.
