Gwinnett Men rob Bakery
LILBURN - Three unidentified men on Wednesday robbed Bakery La Dana at 440 Pleasant Hill Road.
An employee was sweeping in the front of the store about 9:10 p.m. when the suspects ran in armed with pistols and yelling at him not to move. One of the robbers struck the employee over the head with a gun, causing a laceration, according to a police report. They demanded that he open the cash register. The employee was then made to lay on the floor so the suspects could bind his hands with black plastic zip ties.
The robbers fled in an unknown direction.
Man cleaning gun accidentally shoots neighbor's cat
NORCROSS - A Norcross man accidentally fired a gun into his neighbor's apartment and struck a cat this week at Park Trace Apartments on Jones Mill Road.
The man told police he was cleaning his gun at 8:30 p.m. and didn't realize that it was loaded. A round was accidentally discharged into the ceiling, according to police reports.
The neighbor upstairs, a 30-year-old woman, was watching television when her cat jumped up and started meowing loudly and bleeding excessively. The woman took her cat to the animal hospital, where an X-ray revealed a bullet lodged in the animal's body.
The suspect apologized for the shooting and promised to reimburse the woman for all expenses. No charges were filed, police reports stated.
Man charged with fleeing police
NORCROSS - A Dawson man was arrested Wednesday after allegedly running away from a police officer who was attempting to question him about suspicious activity.
An officer patrolling businesses at the 950 block of Indian Trail Road at midnight saw a man hiding on the side of a closed business. The officer started to approach the man, later identified as 28-year-old Neoberto Shimon Hall, but Hall ran toward a wooded area. The officer yelled twice during the pursuit "Gwinnett police, stop running," but Hall allegedly continued to flee.
Hall fell down while running and the officer was able to arrest him. When asked why he ran, Hall reportedly said "I thought you were my girlfriend and I didn't want to talk."
Hall appeared intoxicated and he admitted to consuming "a few" alcoholic beverages, a police report stated. He pretended not to hear any subsequent questions that the officer posed, the report said.
Hall was charged with obstruction and public intoxication.
Barrow Meth lab found in trunk of car
WINDER - Police arrested three people Friday after finding a methamphetamine lab in the trunk of a car.
Winder residents Kyle Hartman, 23; Michelle Barrett, 19; and Ronald Jones Jr., 22, were all charged with conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine after a tip led police to check their 161 North Broad St. apartment for drug activity, Detective Sgt. Wayne Samples said.
Warrants were served about 6 a.m. Friday, and cleanup of the lab was completed about 2:30 p.m., Samples said.
WINDER - A man was stabbed while he slept on the hood of his car.
The man told police he was sleeping in front of his home on Fairview Circle Sept. 27 when he awoke to being stabbed in his side.
According to a police report, someone took $200 from the victim, who went to Barrow Medical Center following the incident.
The stab wound went past the man's ribs, according to the report. Police received the call at 8:42 a.m.
Woman charged with battery
WINDER - A Pizza Hut employee was charged with battery after she reportedly got into a fight with a co-worker.
Shannon Parrott, 23, allegedly got into a verbal disagreement with a co-worker.
Pizza Hut managers counseled both women following the disagreement, according to a police report.
The pair argued again later. Parrott reportedly began cursing her co-worker and threw her cell phone at her before allegedly charging the woman and punching her in the left eye. Parrott continued to push and strike her co-worker, the report said.
Parrott left the scene after learning the police had been called. Warrants were taken out against her for two counts of battery and one count of simple assault following the Sept. 23 incident.
Man charged with indecent exposure
WINDER - A man was arrested and charged with public indecency after he allegedly masturbated in front of someone at Fort Yargo Park.
Robert Chaisson, 32, of Jefferson, allegedly followed a 17-year-old male walking through the park to a bridge, unzipped his pants and started masturbating while walking toward the male.
The two crossed each other on the bridge, the report said. Chaisson reportedly hid in the woods when police came. He was charged with public indecency following the incident Sept. 27.
