Ret. Col. James Webster Cain, age 84, of Gainesville, Georgia and formerly of Buford, Georgia passed away on Saturday, November 26, 2005. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul and Nellie Strickland Cain; brothers, Paul Cain and Billy Cain; sisters, Emma Mae Wilbanks, Johnnie Thomas and Ann Gilmer. Surviving are his: Wife of 54 years: Mrs. Elaine W. Cain, Gainesville, GA; Daughter and Son-in-Law: Melinda Cain Reinhardt and husband, Dr. Jeff C. Reinhardt, Gainesville, GA; Sons and Daughters-in-Law: J. Lawton and Chris Doty-Cain, Minneapolis, MN, Michael W. and Martha M. Cain, Clermont-Ferrand, France; 6 Grandchildren: Alex Cain, Julia Cain, Lindsey Cain, Sara Cain, Christian Reinhardt, Emma Reinhardt; Several Nieces, Nephews and Cousins. Ret. Col. Cain was a native of Buford, GA having been born on April 11, 1921. He was a graduate of Buford High School, a 1943 graduate of West Point Military Academy, and received his M.B.A. Degree from North Georgia College. He entered the military on June 1, 1943 serving in the Army and retired as a Colonel on July 31, 1968. He was a Decorated World War II Army Veteran having received the Purple Heart. He was a member of the Buford American Legion Post No. 127. He taught Business Law and Economics at Young Harris College for 10 years. He was the Owner of Mrs. E. A. Wilbanks Insurance Agency in Buford. He was a former member of the Buford Board of Education. He was a member of the Buford Kiwanis Club. He was a long time member and Elder of the First United Methodist Church of Buford where he also taught Sunday School. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 29, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Flanigan Funeral Home with Rev. Gerry M. Davis officiating. Interment in Broadlawn Memorial Gardens, Buford, GA with full military honors. The family will receive friend at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Northeast Georgia Hospice, 2150 Limestone Parkway, Gainesville, GA 30506, in memory of Ret.
