Tom M. Wages, Sr., age 81 of Lawrenceville, GA, Founder and President of Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, Inc., died November 19, 2005. He is survived by his wife, Sandra P. Wages; Children: Valerie J. Wages, CFSP of Cumming, GA, Kathy and Dan Dougherty of Golden, CO, Tommie Ann & Rick Johnson of Lawrenceville, Delana & John Revell of Alpharetta, Tom M. Wages, Jr. of Lawrenceville; Sisters: Effie Mae Pattillo, Julia Allgood, both of Lawrenceville; Grandchildren: Matthew Wages Johnson, UGA Law School, Athens, GA, Kathryn Johnson, Georgia College, Milledgeville, Sam Johnson of Lawrenceville, Morgan Valerie Dougherty, Colorado State University, Ft. Collins, CO, Stephanie Revell, Daniel Revell, both of Alpharetta; Several Nieces, nephews and in-laws. Mr. Wages, a native Gwinnett County Farmboy, was a 1941 graduate of Dacula High School and a 1947 graduate of Cleveland College of Mortuary Science. He served in the United States Navy on LST 811 during World War II and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Lawrenceville. In 1949, he founded Tom M. Wages Funeral Service, Inc. on the historic courthouse square in Lawrenceville and in 1984 he established Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. On June 15, 2005, he broke ground for Tom M. Wages Loganville Chapel and Walton Memorial Park. Mr. Wages dedicated his life to serving families in their time of need and was recognized across the country as the epitome of a traditional funeral director. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 22 at 2 P.M. at First Baptist Church Lawrenceville with Rev. Larry Wynn, Rev. John Colbaugh and Dr. Lamar Holley. Interment at Gwinnett Memorial Park with Minister Harold Savage officiating. The family will receive friends Monday from 1 until 9 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Lawrenceville Chapel.
