GAC girls win Chestatee Tournament

GAINESVILLE - D'Nay Daniels scored 18 points and was named Tournament MVP as Greater Atlanta Christian topped Shaw 75-58 to win the Chestatee Tournament Saturday night.

Kiki Swanier scored 13 points and Julio Stephens added 11 points as GAC improved to 2-1. Bria Smith, who finished with eight points, was also named to the All-Tournament Team.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Norcross 52, Central 45

SNELLVILLE - D'Andra Moss and Jasmine Godwin each scored 21 points as Norcross defeated Central Gwinnett 52-45 at the Dacula/Shiloh Shootout on Saturday at Shiloh High School.

Moss also had 16 rebounds as Norcross improved to 2-1. Amber Kirkpatrick led Central Gwinnett with 14 points.

Brookwood 54, Wheeler 44

KENNESAW - Brookwood opened its season on Saturday with a 54-44 win over Wheeler at the North Cobb Classic.

Chioma Okoli led Brookwood with 18 points while Ashley Green, Lisa Reid and Sarah Krogh scored six points each.

Shiloh 48, Duluth 41

SNELLVILLE - Shiloh defeated Duluth on Saturday 48-41 at the Dacula/Shiloh Shootout at Shiloh High School.

Shiloh's Jessica Baker led all scorers with 19 points while Courtney Strauthers added 17 more. Laurie Thomas led Duluth with 12 points and five rebounds while Mykala Walker added 10 points and 12 rebounds.

Wesleyan 55, Parkview 53 OT

LILBURN - LeLe LeSeur had 20 points and seven rebounds Saturday night as Wesleyan edged Parkview 55-53 in overtime in the Loop/Lee Holiday Classic at Parkview High School.

Carolyn Whitney added 17 points and seven assists as Wesleyan improved to 2-0. Parkview (1-1) was led by 19 points from Jessica Geiger and 11 points from Ashleigh Lee.

Berkmar 67, Eastside 43

SUWANEE - Berkmar opened its season with a 67-43 win over Eastside at the Bulldog Classic on Saturday at North Gwinnett High School.

Kiara Evans led Berkmar with 21 points.

North Gwinnett 52, Meadowcreek 25

SUWANEE - North Gwinnett defeated Meadowcreek 52-25 on Saturday at the Bulldog Classic at North Gwinnett High School.

Jolie Efezokhae led North (1-0) in scoring with 13 points.

Buford 61, Franklin County 56

JEFFERSON - Buford had three players score in double-figures as the Wolves won their season opener 61-56 over Franklin County at the Jefferson Tournament on Saturday.

Sarah Scott led the way with 18 points while Victoria Peavey had 17 points and Shannon Wilson chipped in with 12 points.

Salem 65, Providence Christian 30

JEFFERSON - Providence Christian lost to Salem on Saturday 65-30 at the Jefferson Tournament. Carli West led the Stars (1-2) with 10 points.

Hebron 57, Eagle's Landing 33

MCDONOUGH - Hebron improved to 3-0 with a 57-33 win over Eagle's Landing on Saturday.

Britt Pecht led the team in scoring with 17 points and added five assists while Courtney Odum scored 14 points and Meredith Montgomery had 13 points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Collins Hill 68, Lamar Co. 50

LILBURN - Four Eagles hit double-figures in points Saturday night as Collins Hill topped Lamar County 68-50 in the Loop/Lee Holiday Classic at Parkview.

Antron Pippen led Collins Hill (2-0) with 17 points while Emmanuel Perry scored 13. Shaun Bullard added 12 points while Joe Johnson finished with 10 points and six assists.

Collins Hill will play St. Pius in the tournament finals on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. at Parkview. St. Pius topped Heritage 55-46 in the other semifinal game.

Norcross 85, Central 42

SNELLVILLE - Jodie Meeks hit six 3-pointers to lead Norcross to an 85-42 win over Central Gwinnett at the Dacula/Shiloh Shootout on Saturday at Shiloh High School.

Meeks led all scorers with 27 points while Gani Lawal finished with 25 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks.

Central's leading scorer was Sam Goodman with 11 points.

Parkview 54, Towers 50

LILBURN - Parkview got its first win of the season with a 54-50 win over Towers on Saturday at the Loop/Lee Sports Holiday Classic at Parkview High School.

Ty Rowland led Parkview with 21 points. Broderick Walker led Towers with 12 points.

MLK 56, North 44

SUWANEE - Langston Williams led all scorers with 17 points as Martin Luther King downed North Gwinnett 56-44 Saturday night in the Bulldog Classic at North Gwinnett.

Eric Tiller scored 12 points to lead the Bulldogs (0-1).

Shiloh 63, Duluth 40

SNELLVILLE - Shiloh knocked off Duluth 63-40 Saturday night in the Dacula/Shiloh Shootout at Shiloh High School.

Malcolm Robinson scored 12 points to lead Shiloh (1-1) while Marcus Spivey added 10 points. Jessie Wheeler of Duluth (1-1) led all scorers with 21 points.

Meadowcreek 79, Eastside 60

SUWANEE - Chris Allen led all scorers Saturday night with 21 points as Meadowcreek defeated Eastside 79-60 in the Bulldog Classic at North Gwinnett.

Southwest Atlanta Christian 79, Berkmar 57

LILBURN - Berkmar lost to Southwest Atlanta Christian on Saturday 79-57 at the Loop/Lee Sports Holiday Classic at Parkview.

Javaris Crittenton and Danny Friend led SWAC with 19 points each. Patrick Shopelca had 12 points for Berkmar (0-2).

Franklin County 66,

Wesleyan 60

JEFFERSON - Wesleyan opened its season with a 66-60 loss to Franklin County on Saturday at the Jefferson Tournament.

Wesleyan trailed at the half 43-27 and tied the game at 52-52 but was unable to ever take the lead.

Howard Thompkins led Wesleyan with 28 points and 15 rebounds while Tanner Smith had 11 points and six assists.

WRESTLING

Peachtree Ridge takes second in Northview tournament

DULUTH - Peachtree Ridge went 4-1 in team competition to place second in the Northview Titan Duals on Saturday at Northview High School.

Peachtree Ridge defeated Alpharetta (66-18), Stone Mountain (63-15), Milton (46-30) and Luella (65-17) before falling to Brookwood 41-22 in the finals.

Collins Hill finishes second in Central Gwinnett Duals

LAWRENCEVILLE - Collins Hill advanced to the finals of the Central Gwinnett duals on Saturday and narrowly fell to Kell 28-27 to place second.

Collins Hill beat East Coweta (70-0), Dunwoody (72-0), Heritage (64-6) and Henry County (48-26). The Eagles had five wrestlers go undefeated in Taylor Knapp (119 pounds), Myers Beck (125), Dominic Vercelote (130), Justin Hash (125) and Thomas Knapp (135).

Henry County finished third while North Gwinnett took fourth.
