Mary M. (Mickey) Leatherwood Outland went home to be with her Lord on May 19, 2005 after a courageous battle with lymphoma. This was truly her grand and glorious coronation day. She was born in Murphy, NC but lived most of her life in Akron, OH. She leaves behind and will be forever loved and cherished by her husband of 59 years, Paul, daughter and son-in-law that she loved as if he were her own child, Sandi and Johnny Brewer, brothers Sid (Edna), Bob (Yvonne), Maynard (Doris), John (Belinda) and Tom (Joan) Leatherwood and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was a totally devoted wife and a truly loving mother and continually put others' needs before her own. She served God as a Ministers wife for over 50 years. Through the years she was also a church Secretary, Choir Member, Pianist and Organist in her home church, the Akron Baptist Temple in Akron, Ohio. She and husband, Rev. Paul D. Outland moved to Lawrenceville in 1996 upon his retirement. Her life can be truly described by Proverbs 31. She was a member of North Metro First Baptist Church and served faithfully in Odell Tucker's Sunday School class as well as the senior adult ministry, nursing home ministry and senior adult choir until she became ill. She was blessed with great musical talents and abilities and used them to glorify God all of her life. She was greeted in heaven by her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as well as her parents, Thomas and Lola Leatherwood and in-laws, Raymond and Goldie Outland. She is now rejoicing around God's throne with dear friends who have gone before her including Berniece McClure and Ann Miller and countless others who meant so much to her in this life and no doubt have been anxiously awaiting her arrival.
