Prep roundup: Norcross' Harmon hits for cycle in win

NORCROSS - Cory Harmon hit for the cycle, going 4-for-4 as Norcross defeated Peachtree Ridge 9-5 on Monday.

Michael Adams picked up the win for the Blue Devils (19-4, 6-2 Region 7-AAAAA), while Drew Morgan was 2-for-3 and Johnny Curry went 2-for-4.

BASEBALL

Parkview 13, Berkmar 6

LILBURN - Parkview got off to a 12-0 lead after two innings before settling for a 13-6 Region 8-AAAAA win on Monday at Berkmar. The Panthers improved to 19-5 overall and 12-0 in the region.

Stephen McCray (4-1) notched the win for Parkview while Michael Langley was 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Gator Parker was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Josh Hooper was 2-for-3 for the Panthers.

Shiloh 1, Central 0

SNELLVILLE - Kellan Chrisman singled home William Wilson with the game-winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning on Monday, giving host Shiloh a 1-0 win over Central Gwinnett.

Wilson singled in the seventh and Grant Myers followed with another single before Chrisman's game-winning hit. The win improves Shiloh to 5-18 overall and 3-8 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Zack Harris picked up the win for Shiloh, throwing a complete game while striking out five and allowing just five hits.

Trip Pognant pitched a complete game for Central (8-15, 3-8).

Grayson 14, Meadowcreek 1

NORCROSS - Chris Meredith picked up his first win of the year to lead the Grayson Rams to a 14-1 win over Meadowcreek in five innings on Monday.

Meredith allowed just one hit in four innings pitched and struck out eight to pick up the victory.

Jeff Mitchell had two doubles and four RBIs for the Rams and Brett George had two hits, including a triple, for the Rams, who are now 14-9 overall and 8-4 in Region 8-AAAAA.

Grayson's win, coupled with Berkmar's loss to Parkview, means the Rams have secured a spot in the state playoffs.

Providence 11,

Lumpkin County 0

DAHLONEGA - Collin McHugh pitched a five-inning shutout to lead Providence to an easy 11-0 win over host Lumpkin County on Monday.

Ryan Woods, Tyler Johnson and Zane Stephens each had two hits for the Stars, who are now 19-5 overall and 13-5 in Region 8-AA. Woods also added two RBIs and three runs, while Johnson and Stephens scored two runs each.

Chattahoochee 9, Mill Creek 1

ALPHARETTA - The Mill Creek baseball team dropped to 15-8 overall and 3-5 in Region 7-AAAAA with a 9-1 loss at Mill Creek on Monday.

Tyler Walton gave up five earned runs and 10 hits to pick up the loss for the Hawks.

Kirklan Moore had two hits and an RBI for Mill Creek and Dan Noice added a double.

Killian Hill 12, Open Bible 3

LILBURN - Allan Bailey had two home runs, a triple and seven RBIs to lead Killian Hill to a 12-3 win over Open Bible on Monday in the semifinals of the Georgia Christian Athletic Association playoffs.

Killian Hill advances to the state finals where it will take on People's Baptist on Friday in Conyers.

Brad Whayne gave up just three hits and one earned run in six innings of work to pick up the win on the mound for Killian Hill, which is now 13-2 on the season. Drew Steckenrider and Daniel Straussberger each had two hits to help lead the offense.

BOYS SOCCER

Buford 4, Lafayette 2

LAFAYETTE - Misael Martinez scored three goals and Patrick McGlon added a goal as the Buford boys soccer team defeated Lafayette 4-2 in the first round of the Class AA/A state playoffs.

The Wolves (11-6) advance to play at Grady Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the second round.

GIRLS TENNIS

Peachtree Ridge 3, Kennesaw Mtn. 2

KENNESAW - Peachtree Ridge beat host Kennesaw Mountain in the first round of the Class AAAAA state playoffs with the help of a sweep in doubles play.

The No. 1 doubles team of Emma Knight and Jeni Thomas picked up a point as did the No. 2 team of Kala Jones and Chelsea Young. No. 3 singles player Amanda Barnes also won for the Lions.
