Snellville man charged with assault

SNELLVILLE - A Snellville man was arrested Saturday after he reportedly tried to retaliate against neighborhood kids who were damaging his mother's property.

A female resident on Mountbery Drive called police to report the incidents, but she could not provide a description of the suspects because it was too dark. The officer advised her to install motion lights, keep a lookout for suspicious activity and notify authorities if they returned.

The woman's son, 41-year-old Richard Samuel Brazil Jr., then cursed at the officer, according to reports, asking why the policeman didn't "just do his job and go search for the kids." The officer said he was leaving, and Brazil allegedly replied "well if those kids come back, whatever happens to them happens."

About 20 minutes later, an 18-year-old neighborhood boy told police he was walking down the street when Brazil came at him with a knife and attempted to slash him. Brazil was arrested on a charge of aggravated assault.

Man struck by car

LILBURN - A 19-year-old man was struck by a car Monday while attempting to confront a driver about suspicious behavior.

The victim told police he was in the garage at his house when he looked up and saw a man standing next to his father's truck in the driveway. The teen went outside to see what the suspect was doing, but the man quickly fled in a red pickup truck.

The victim got into his father's truck and followed, soon blocking in the suspect at a cul-de-sac down the street. The 19-year-old got out and asked what the suspect was doing at his house. The suspect cursed at him and then drove straight toward the victim, striking him.

The teen reportedly suffered back pain from the incident. However, he was able to get the truck's tag number before the suspect drove away.

Men invade home, force residents into closet

LAWRENCEVILLE - Two unidentified black males invaded a home Tuesday in Garrison Square on Old Peachtree Road, forced residents into a closet and ransacked the place looking for valuables.

A 24-year-old man, his 22-year-old girlfriend and 53-year-old mother were on the second floor of the home at 12:50 a.m. when the suspects entered through an unlocked door. The intruders, one of whom was armed with a pistol, demanded money and asked the three victims if they had any drugs.

The residents managed to escape to a nearby store and telephone police.
