William “Bill” Harold Weeks, Jr., age 78, of Winder, died Tuesday, March 15, 2005. Mr. Weeks was born on December 25, 1926 in Monticello, Georgia. He attended the University of Georgia where he also played football. He graduated from Southern Technical Institute. He served in the US Army Air Corps. during World War II. Mr. Weeks moved his family to Clarkston, Georgia during the 1950's and was employed by Firestone, Norge, and the DeKalb County Board of Education until he became owner of a laundry-dry cleaning business, with locations in Decatur and Doraville; Winter's Village Laundry & Cleaners; until his retirement. He was a member of Clarkston Baptist Church. During retirement, Mr. Weeks became an active member of the Clarkston City Council, worked in his wood working shop, took care of his family, and continued trying to catch the “big one” off the coast of Florida. His mother and stepfather, Blanche Florence Floyd and Alton W. Floyd, and son-in-law, Jerry R. Funderburke, preceded him in death. Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Mary Frances Layson Weeks of Winder, children, Lenora Funderburke of Hendersonville, NC, Beverley and Jim Guffie of Montgomery City, MO, Steve and Tina Weeks of Winder, Ron and Kathy Weeks of Fishers, IN, and Nancy and Mark Yarbrough of Cumming; grandchildren, Shelly Funderburke Lummus of Cumming, Rebekah and Rachel Guffie of Montgomery City, MO, Ronnie Weeks of Athens, Alexandrea and Marty Yarbrough of Cumming, Tyler and Ethan Weeks of Winder and Kristen, Jessica, Emily and Elizabeth Weeks of Fishers, IN; and great grandchild, Jeri Anna Lummus of Cumming. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 19, 2005, at 1:00 P.M. at the chapel of Jordan Funeral Home, Monticello. Burial in West View Cemetery, Monticello. Rev. Irwin Dawson and Dr. Jim Guffie officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be John Graham, Scott Lummus, Ed Nothnagel, Ethan Weeks, Ronnie Weeks, Jr., Tyler Weeks, Mark Yarbrough and Marty Yarbrough.
